Natural Home Scenting

I’m always experimenting with different methods of making my apartment smell like a home. There aren’t many better things in the world than coming home to a soothing atmosphere. That warm, welcoming, and refreshing smell that just makes you want to drop your bags and curl up on the couch. The best!

I’ve been trying out different scents in candles, incense, & plug ins. But I wanted to experiment with a couple of natural home scenting recipes in my crockpot. NOTE: you can also use the stovetop if you’d like!

Fresh Summer Scent:

  • Lemons
  • Rosemary (breakdown to fit in pot)
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Water

Warm Cinnamon Scent:

  • Oranges
  • Whole Cloves
  • Allspice
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Water

Just slice up the fruit, add all other ingredients to your liking, and fully envelop the mixture in water. The water will gradually simmer, so to avoid burning, add enough so that it’s fully emerged. You can keep an eye on it and add as time progresses if you’d like. 🙂

Most importantly, kick back and take in a deep breath of your deliciously smelling naturally scented home!

Feel free to share with us all of your home scenting recipes and methods!

What I’m listening to:
Black Flies – Ben Howard
Surrender – Cheaptrick
When A Man Loves A Woman – Percy Sledge
Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) – AWOLNATION
She’s Not Me – Jenny Lewis

What I’m Reading:
Young Adult Novel – The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand
Daily Scriptures – Longing For More by Timothy Willard

– Naturally inspired. Locally aware. Universally beautiful. With love, Whitney.
