Living With Mistakes/Guilt/Hurt

I recently started reading a book by Timothy Willard titled Longing For More: Daily Reflections On Finding God In The Rhythms Of Life. It has been an incredibly uplifting “go to” book to read everyday. The pages are essentially covered in yellow because there are so many impactful passages (not sure how useful that is). I read something yesterday and it just HIT HOME.

imageEvery single one of us has made a mistake at some point. Sometimes those mistakes can stay with us. They stay with us and harvest heavy, ugly, hateful, guilty feelings that can cause selfish actions. When our actions are stemmed from a wounded place, an accumulation of bad occurrences in our life, we drown in negativity and then send it on to everyone around us. It’s okay to be upset. It’s okay to have a healthy medium to purge it out. For me, I write and hide away in music. But then you have to let it go.

imageWe are forgiven. You can find eternal refuge in that. Even if you have different beliefs than I, the concept is the same. You do not have to live with the pain and guilt of any bad occurrence or decision in your life. You are human. You are forgiven. Choose to be a loving, kind, patient, and understanding person and know that we are all in this together.

– Naturally inspired. Locally aware. Universally beautiful. With love, Whitney.
